Sometimes the smallest updates make the biggest difference. That was exactly the case here at Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital. The landscape beds around the building had run their course - old river rock that had lost its look, and bushes that needed a clean-up to match the sharp exterior of the building.

Here's what we did: we pulled out the old river rock and replaced it with fresh 3/4"-2" grey trap rock. That size range is a sweet spot - big enough to hold its position and look substantial, small enough to lay flat and neat across the bed. The grey tone also works really well against light-colored siding and brick, giving everything a polished, cohesive feel.

We paired the rock swap with a full bush trim across all the foundation plantings. Tight, rounded shapes. No stragglers. It sounds like a small detail, but untrimmed shrubs can drag down the look of an otherwise well-kept property fast. Getting them back into shape ties the whole refresh together.

The great thing about a job like this is the payoff relative to the effort. No major construction, no big disruption to the property. Just focused work in the right spots - and the result is a commercial exterior that looks intentional and well cared for. That matters, especially for a client-facing business where first impressions count from the moment someone pulls into the lot.

Rock beds done right are also just easier to maintain long-term. Less weeding, better drainage, and a clean look that holds up through the seasons without constant attention. That's a win for any commercial property owner.
