Here's what a bare, freshly graded yard looks like right after hydroseeding - green slurry laid down across the whole area, seed locked in and waiting to go. That's day one. It doesn't look like much yet, but the work that matters most has already happened underneath.

Ground prep is everything with hydroseeding. If the soil isn't ready before the slurry goes down, you're fighting an uphill battle from the start. We take that part seriously - because quality seed and a good mulch mix can only do so much if the foundation isn't right. Get that part wrong and you're reseeding bare patches six weeks later.

Three weeks is really where it gets exciting. You can see the grass starting to fill in and push through - thin in some spots still, but the coverage is building fast. Consistent watering does a lot of the heavy lifting at this stage. So does a little patience. But when conditions line up, hydroseeding moves quick.

Fall is actually one of the better times to hydroseed in North Iowa and Southern Minnesota. Cooler temps and natural rainfall take some pressure off the watering routine, and the grass has a chance to establish before winter sets in. If your lawn is thin, patchy, or you're starting from scratch after a construction project, now is a good window to get it done before the season closes out.

We've still got a handful of grass seeding jobs to get through this fall, along with some patio and retaining wall work in the queue. If you've been putting off a lawn or hardscape project, sooner is better - the schedule fills up fast and we want to make sure we can fit you in before the ground shuts things down.
